Who can come to the NHCC?
Providers will see any child ages birth-18; however, 19 through 21-year-olds MUST be attending school and are seen on a case-base basis. You DO NOT have to live in New Hope or go to a New Hope school to be a patient.
What is a “school-based” health clinic?
NHCC is located on the school property; therefore, we can see children at the New Hope Schools while they are at school. Parents or guardians must sign a Medical Consent form giving providers permission to see the child without them being present. The children are escorted from the school to the clinic and back by an adult clinic volunteer.
What about medical insurance?
You do not have to have insurance to come to the clinic. We will help you apply for Medicaid or AllKids (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) if the child does not have insurance. If you have insurance we can bill it for your care.
Co-Pays are due at the time of service. The amount of your child’s co-pay is determined by your insurance provider.
When is the clinic open?
NHCC is open Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. We stay open during summer and school holidays; however, we may reduce our hours. The clinic is closed on major holidays. Providers are on-call when the clinic is closed. After hours you can leave a message with the answering service and a provider will call you back. The Madison County Health Department is here each Friday administering the WIC Program (Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program).
What services do you provide?
We provide medical care for any type of need. If we do not have the services needed on site we will refer you to a specialist. We also offer dental and vision care as well as mental health counseling.
Do you do sports and camp physicals?
Yes, we will perform these on any child-not just our patients. There is a $10 fee for NHCC patients and a $20 fee for non-NHCC patients. This is payable by cash or check. You will need to make an appointment!
How do I get my child seen at the clinic?
Call 256-723-4673 any time between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday for an appointment. A Medical Consent form, signed by the parent or guardian, needs to be on file.
