Point of Hope
The New Hope Children's Clinic is located on the New Hope School campus in the former HEALS Clinic. Our mission is to carry on their good work. While open, HEALS was instrumental in helping diagnose a New Hope student with leukemia. "Had it not been for the clinic's availability this child may not have received the necessary treatment from St. Jude's in Memphis," Principal Lavell states. New Hope attendance rates rose significantly when students were able to walk to the clinic and be treated for minor illnesses. Since HEALS found it necessary to close its New Hope clinic, the community has missed the resource.
- There were a total of 2,847 total personal illness absences for the 2008-2009 school year for New Hope Elementary and New Hope Midde School.
- Since January 6th, 2009 to February 6th, 2009, New Hope High School has had over 250 occurrences of students checking out due to illness.
- Parents are struggling because of the lack of available office hours at the local walk-in clinic.
- During the past seven months Huntsville Hospital Pediatric E.R. has experienced a 22% visitation rate from children in our intended service zip code.
